Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU: The Sacramento Owner’s Guide

Caesarstone home additions and ADU projects in Sacramento typically run $45,000 to $130,000 for a full addition, with standalone ADU construction starting around $90,000 and topping out near $220,000 depending on size, foundation work, and finish level. When a homeowner calls us about a “failing part” in a Caesarstone addition, what they usually mean is a surface issue that has spread, a seam that opened, or a substrate problem behind the stone that was never addressed in the original build. You don’t replace a Caesarstone countertop or island top in isolation. Nine times out of ten, you’re replacing or repairing the structure under it too, and that’s where the real cost lives.

We install and service Caesarstone surfaces as part of larger addition and ADU scopes in Sacramento, from kitchen islands in new square footage to full counter runs in detached units. This page covers what fails, what it costs to fix properly, and when a repair makes sense versus pulling the stone and starting clean.

Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone runs multiple series, and compatibility matters more than most homeowners expect. The classic 2000-series slabs (like 2003 Concrete, 2141 Snow, 3100 Frosty Carrina) are 20mm thick and still the most common material we see in Sacramento kitchens built between 2005 and 2018. The 5000-series and newer Natural and Metallica lines come in 20mm and 30mm, and the 30mm slabs change how you build the substrate, the overhang, and the edge profile. If you’re adding onto a home that already has a 20mm Caesarstone run and you want the new addition to match, you need to confirm the old color is still in production before framing starts. Some colors get discontinued, and matching a discontinued slab means a full replacement, not a patch job.

For identifying your specific product, check the underside of the slab for the engraved Caesarstone mark, or look at the edge profile. For OEM versus aftermarket, there is no aftermarket Caesarstone. It’s a manufactured quartz product. The equivalent aftermarket options are other quartz brands like Cambria or Silestone, which we also install, but if you want a true match to existing Caesarstone, you’re buying Caesarstone. The decision is whether to match the existing surface or switch the entire run to a different brand and color. We’ve done both in Sacramento additions, and the honest answer is that matching is cheaper only when the material is still available.

Signs Your Caesarstone Home Addition or ADU Surface Is Failing

  • Seam separation at the island or peninsula. Quartz expands and contracts with temperature swings, and Sacramento’s summer heat cycles put real stress on seams. If your seam has opened more than 1/16 of an inch, the original installer may have skipped expansion accommodation or the cabinet under it has shifted. A tight seam is fixable. A wide one usually means the stone was cut too tight to begin with.
  • Hairline cracks radiating from a cooktop cutout. This is the most common Caesarstone failure we see in Sacramento kitchens. The cutout corners are stress points, and if the fabricator didn’t radius the corners enough, cracks travel outward over time. Once a crack starts at a cutout, repair is temporary. Replacement is the permanent fix.
  • Chipping along the front edge or overhang. Caesarstone is tough but not indestructible. A dropped cast iron pan on the overhang edge will chip it. Small chips can be filled with color-matched epoxy. Large chips on a 20mm slab that will be in a high-use zone usually justify re-cutting the edge or replacing the top.
  • Dull spots or etching despite Caesarstone being “non-porous.” Caesarstone is resistant, not immune. Harsh cleaners, especially those with high pH, can break down the surface over time. If a section looks permanently foggy and polishing doesn’t restore it, the factory finish is compromised and the slab may need professional refinishing or replacement.
  • Water damage at the base or cabinet below the counter. This isn’t the Caesarstone failing. It’s the substrate or the cabinet failing under it. Leaks from a sink or dishwasher rot the cabinet box, the stone settles unevenly, and seams open. The counter is often fine. The structure under it is not.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Caesarstone-related repair or replacement within a larger Sacramento addition or ADU project, here’s what you can expect:

  • Standalone Caesarstone countertop replacement (kitchen): $2,000 to $6,500 installed, depending on slab size, edge profile, and whether the existing cabinets can be reused.
  • Full home addition with Caesarstone kitchen included: $45,000 to $130,000, where the counter component is a line item inside the total scope.
  • ADU construction with Caesarstone counters: $90,000 to $220,000, again with surfaces as a line item, not a standalone number.
  • Seam repair or chip fill: $250 to $800, depending on access and damage severity.

Every price we give in Sacramento is written down before work starts. The number doesn’t move at the door. If we open up a cabinet and find rot we didn’t plan for, you get a change order in writing before we touch it. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every completed project, and if a seam we repaired opens again within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for water stains under the sink cabinet, test whether a seam catches a fingernail, and photograph any crack so we can assess it over the phone. That’s where homeowner work should end. Cutting, lifting, or re-setting Caesarstone slabs is not a weekend project. A 20mm slab panel for an island can weigh 200 pounds or more, and getting it wrong means a broken slab, a damaged cabinet, or an injury. Quartz dust from cutting is a silica hazard. This is not drywall patching.

If the problem is a failing seam, a cracked cutout, or a soft substrate under the stone, call us at (279) 226-1509. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a service call or a full replacement scope, and we’ll give you a written price either way.
